Restoration
Aston Martin DBR4/250:- We were delighted when one of our clients purchased a disassembled Aston Martin DBR4/250 Grand Prix Car & asked us to rebuild it with a view to racing it with The Vintage Sports Car Club & at invitation events. Four Aston Martin DBR4/250 Cars were laid down by “The Works” & although the project started in 1957, the first cars did not race until 1959, driven by Roy Salvadori & Carroll Shelby…………..Beautiful looking cars but being front-engined in 1959, rapidly obsolete………The last of The British Front – Engined Grand Prix cars.
The project presents many challenges – The car had been completely dismantled to the point where only “Large” items such as the chassis & transaxle remained intact, everything else had been taken right down to the last needle roller bearing. Already we have machined a majority of the “Bottom end” items of the engine, rebuilt the (Very Rare) David Brown transaxle & cut one front corner from the chassis & replaced it (Accident –Damaged). All of the body panels have been brought into shape & offered up to the repaired chassis frame & then prepared , having received their first coats of paint (Ultimatelty “Aston Martin Racing Green”).
A number of repairs have been carried out to the cylinder head & new timing gears made. Currently we are in the process of “Trial building” the front & rear suspension to ensure that all sub-assemblies fit the chassis & also that suspension geometry is correct. More news updates will follow with a view to track testing in 2003. We are also working on road-going Aston Martin cars with DB5 & DB6 models currently in the workshop………………
